Overview
Seinan Jazz College is the official jazz circle of Seinan Gakuin University. Members who love jazz come together to rehearse every week, perform at live events throughout the year, and respond to external performance requests.
Our fundamental policy is "no experience required, no audition." Many members picked up their first instrument after entering university. We're a community that values the joy of making music over technical perfection.
We have facilities for both combo (small ensemble) and big band (large ensemble) formats, and we take on a wide variety of music centered on jazz standards. We also actively participate in off-campus events, including the Kyushu Jazz Festival.
Activities
Regular Rehearsals
We rehearse Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at Seinan Kaikan. Beyond pre-event prep, we listen to each other's playing and exchange feedback to grow our skills. Free sessions and casual musical hangouts between members are also a big part of circle life.
Lives & Concerts
We perform multiple times a year at various scales — from internal showcases to public concerts and jazz festivals.
External Performance Requests
We accept requests for community events, campus ceremonies, and more. A great opportunity to gain real performance experience.
Camps
We occasionally hold intensive rehearsal camps where members spend extended time focused on music and building deeper bonds.
General Meetings
Once a month, all members gather for announcements and information sharing — with birthday celebrations and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
